Community Health Worker Training Certification
Maryland Department of Health CHW certification requires the successful completion of 100 hours of didactic training and 40 hours of supervised fieldwork culminating in a comprehensive assessment. Central Maryland AHEC utilizes the Maryland Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) CHW Training program curriculum, supplementing the curriculum with training that reflects relevant regional public health needs.
- CMAHEC is a HRSA Funded Area Health Education Center
- MAHEC CHW Training Institute is the only CHW training program in Maryland that is HRSA authorized and evaluated
- MAHEC CHW Training Program is the only CHW training program in Maryland partnering with a university and major medical center
- CMAHEC has trained more than 300 CHWs since 2016
- CMAHEC focuses on culturally relevant health promotion and interventions
- Since 2016 CMAHEC has provided customized training for more than 300 health professions students and incumbent health professionals
- CMAHEC is a registered Care Transformation Support Vendor
Maryland Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) CHW Training Program is accredited by Maryland Department of Health (No.004-2020-G). Central Maryland AHEC supplements the Maryland curriculum with training that reflects relevant regional public health needs.
