– Earning 1 credit hour of Category 1 CME for every 5 hours participating as a preceptor
– Claiming up to 60 credit hours in a three year cycle if a member of AAFP
– Staying abreast of medical advancements, as students are apprised of new approaches
– Staying current of technology; students are active users of the latest technology and can share this knowledge with you and your staff
– Giving back to your community by helping recruit health care professionals to your service area

As a community-based licensed physician in any discipline or specialty you are uniquely
qualified to teach and mentor Maryland medical students.
About our students
Our medical students are either first year primary care track or fourth year students
completing their required Area Health Education Center (AHEC) rotation.
Your commitment
• A minimum of 80 hours (2 weeks) to a maximum of 160 hours (4 weeks) of
community-based teaching and mentoring.
• One or two students at a time.

You may be able to apply for a credit against your Maryland state income tax. Tax credits will now be issued per eligible rotation versus per student. A minimum of three rotations is still required.
